Another Blown Save
Here we go again, today Mariano Rivera blew another save, giving up 4 runs, only one of them earned. He walked 3 including the leadoff man, and loaded the bases 3 times. After 2/3 of an inning, his day was done.
Guess what happened then?
Felix Rodriguez came in and struck out Mueller in 6 pitches. However, a passed ball resulted in the 5th run of the inning.
Rivera had a good chance of getting the save with bases loaded and one out, but an Alex Rodriguez error turned a routine double play into the tying run.
And then it was all down hill.
He walked the next batter to load the bases again, then gave up 2 runs on a Renteria single to left, and then walked another.
And that was it, after only 2/3 of an inning, he was on the bench.
Of course A-Rod will make that play 99 out of 100 times, but Rivera got himself in that bases loaded possition.
One more point for Brian Cashman.
You know you're going to have to face the Sox down the stretch, and they have Rivera's number.
How are you going to close them out? Rivera is great against evreyone except the Sox.
Since '01, Rivera has 26 blown saves, great numbers.
But, 10 of them are vs. the Sox!
You gotta get a plan.
